KAF Falkenhahn
KAF Falkenhahn
The Falkenhahn Group was founded over 100 years ago as a construction company in Kreuztal. Thanks to continuous growth, KAF Falkenhahn now covers all aspects of track construction and track-bound civil engineering.
SaxMS supports the railroad construction company in its projects. The logistics project is mainly concerned with scheduling, i.e. the planning of locomotives, wagons and employees. With SaxMS Rail, KAF can create precise locomotive plans. For example, the software makes it possible to determine which locomotives are needed at which locations for construction projects at certain times. It can also determine which wagons or machines need to be transported by the locomotives and to which destinations they should be delivered. In addition, SaxMS Rail makes it possible to map the transfer of locomotives to construction sites or workshops.
Finally, a mobile application was developed for the personal time recording of employees, wage data export and ECM, i.e. the maintenance and deadlines of machines, are also to be integrated in the future in order to ultimately map the complete track construction process with SaxMS Rail.
Leonhard Weiss
Leonhard Weiss
The construction company has been in existence since 1900 and now operates in three business areas: road and network construction, track infrastructure construction and civil engineering as well as turnkey construction. In addition to numerous locations in Germany, Leonard Weiss is also represented internationally.
The SaxMs project “Dispo Zweiwege-Bagger” has been in productive operation since January 2023. The project is a software that includes a dispatching platform for road-rail excavators. It is used to plan excavators and associated attachments for the DACH region. As there is a qualification model for the excavators and attachments, i.e. certain machines may only be operated with the corresponding qualification, all requirements for vehicles and all qualifications of all employees are included in the master data on the platform. This ensures that only workers who are authorized to drive the required vehicles can be scheduled.
A special feature of the software is that there is an extra ordering platform. Vehicles can be “ordered” or requested there as required. Dispatchers can then view the orders and dispatch suitable vehicles and workers to the relevant construction site. While these processes were previously carried out via email and phone calls, they have been managed in real time via the system since the start of 2023.
The high level of transparency offered by the software is another special feature. Before, the site managers did not know whether their order had been approved and whether they would receive the excavator they had ordered. Now they can see via the system in a status model whether the dispatcher has processed and confirmed the order. This also provides the site managers with a good overview of vehicles and employees for individual shifts and allows them to see, for example, when each employee’s annual medical fitness check is due. The employees themselves can view their rosters and manage their time recording in the SaxMS MOBILE app.
The next step in the project is to integrate the logistics area and thus cover the transfer of vehicles with SaxMS.
DB
Deutsche Bahn AG
With around 300,000 employees, Deutsche Bahn AG is one of Germany’s largest employers. Over 1000 subsidiaries make DB AG an integrated group. Schweerbau
Schweerbau
Headquartered in Stadthagen, the company is an expert in track construction. In addition to the construction of tracks for all line speeds, Schweerbau also offers rail processing, rail repair in metros and streetcars, civil engineering, sewer inspection, welding technology and overhead line construction and inspection.
The collaboration with SaxMS began directly after InnoTrans in the fall of 2022, starting with a pilot phase in the fall of 2022, which was soon replaced by the logistics project based on SaxMS Rail. The Schweerbau solution focuses on personnel and machine planning. Locomotive transfers, i.e. the transportation of locomotives and machines, as well as trips to the workshop and similar, are clearly displayed on the user interface. In addition to 4 main dispatchers who use the software solution at Schweerbau, there is also a 24/7 team whose members work in shifts to provide assistance for emergencies and incidents using the program.
The next stage of the project will involve the introduction of the mobile application, which will be used as a payroll basis for time recording. The app also provides an overview of shift schedules and absences and offers the option of applying for leave directly on the go.
DB Bahnbau
DB Bahnbau Gruppe
DB Bahnbau Gruppe GmbH is a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn AG (DB). Since January 1, 2010, this subsidiary has brought together all DB Group companies that provide construction services for railroad infrastructure in Germany and Europe in a competitive environment. In close cooperation with the DB Bahnbau Group, SaxMS is developing a comprehensive digital solution based on SaxMS RAIL in three extensive projects. In the first project step, the software component MPS (media disruption-free planning system) was introduced. Subsequently, personnel and machine scheduling for over 2000 employees and 300 machines was piloted and introduced. The third project phase is PSS – the planning and scheduling of machine technology, logistics and ECM.

It is active as an automotive supplier, manufacturer of consumer goods (power tools, household appliances) and industrial and building technology (security technology), as well as a world market leader in automated packaging technology. SaxMS particularly works closely with the Semiconductor division. In a long-standing partnership, SaxMS supports Robert Bosch GmbH in the digitalization of planning processes along the value chain.
The joint eWOC project was launched at the beginning of 2022 after a six-month preliminary project phase. The software finally went live in November 2022 and has since been continuously expanded and improved every two weeks. Between 150 and 600 associates at Bosch use the tool, which is essentially a management system with a standardized database for secondary production processes. It has three main domains: deviation management, change management and release gate management.
Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH
Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH
Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH (EFW) in Dresden is a traditional Dresden-based aircraft construction company and is currently a center for the conversion of Airbus passenger aircraft into cargo and tanker aircraft with associated maintenance. The subsidiary of the Airbus Group also supplies Airbus with fiber composite panels for aircraft interior linings. SaxMS and EFW are working together to digitalize the planning and control processes at EFW.
SaxMS is specifically supporting the company with two projects: APS and InfoSwap. This collaboration has existed since SaxMS was founded and was one of the first SaxMS projects.
APS is a software program that is used to plan resources, in particular personnel. It is used for medium-term planning of conversions, which can be divided into three phases: preparatory work in the workshop or hangar, the actual work on the aircraft and follow-up work in the workshop. With the tool, the individual tasks of the three phases can be easily assigned to the employees by the two capacity planners who currently use the tool. The project was in the test phase over the summer of 2023, but finally went live at the end of the summer. The aim for the future is to integrate short-term planning into the project.
The second project, InfoSwap, has been in progress since May 2021. Like APS, it went live in summer 2023. This software provides an overview of all orders for aircraft parts, tools and similar items and offers an exchange platform for Elbe Flugzeugwerke and its partners, who are based in Singapore, for example. Among other things, orders for kits, which are conversion kits, can be tracked. Previously, all this data was recorded using Excel and SAP, but InfoSwap uses its web interface to easily create clear tables with all the information on orders and ordering processes, sorted by project. The software can simply take the data for creating these overviews from SAP or import Excel tables. Tables can also be exported and data written back to SAP. Mods are another feature of the software. These mods are used to keep track of all orders and associated processes at locations outside Dresden, the so-called “MOD sites”.
Other sites, i.e. other EFW workplaces or plants that work closely with EFW, have already signed up for the future. These sites want to use the software, although this will of course be tailored to the specific requirements of the respective plant beforehand.
