On June 22, 2023, the kick-off meeting for the OptRail project took place, supported by funds from the European Union. This important meeting marked the beginning of the cooperation between our team and the project partner at the Technical University of Dresden, Chair of Business Administration, in particular Industrial Management.
OPTRAIL – the acronym stands for the optimal deployment of vehicles and personnel for rail expansion and freight transport through intelligent and environmentally friendly planning – has been an outstanding SaxMS project since June 2023. This project is being implemented in cooperation with TU Dresden and aims to digitalize and automate planning processes in the complex field of railroad construction that were previously carried out manually. The latest intelligent solutions and algorithms developed by scientists at TU Dresden are being used.
Optimizing the deployment planning of personnel, machinery and rolling stock (such as construction machinery, locomotives and freight wagons) is also a key challenge for SaxMS – especially when taking ecological aspects into account. This commitment reflects our efforts to actively contribute to the further development of the railroad construction sector with our many years of expertise.
The results of these cooperative efforts will benefit our rail construction customers in the future and enable them to benefit from the innovative solutions of the OptRail project.
Next year, interested parties will have the opportunity to gain a deeper insight into the progress of the project. A workshop on OptRail is planned for InnoTrans 2024.
